When, one hundred years after the end of the Great War, we are faced with a huge number of victims and post-war experiences, it must certainly make us sad, but we are deeply moved emotionally by individual destinies. That has always been the case, and that is why these monographs, my humble contribution to the memory of our ancestors and their ideals and delusions, are primarily based on the immediate memories and destinies of specific people. In that sense, my comments may or may not be accepted. It is a great truth that the nation is not only made up of the living, but also the legacy of the predecessors and future generations to whom consciousness, conscience and culture are transmitted and bequeathed.
