Bread – a cult in all religions and societies of the world, is a symbol of sustaining life. In everyday life, bread is food that satisfies worldly needs with general gratitude and prayer to God, while during the festive season, bread is not only a gift and a form of sacrifice intended for a certain demon, deity or God, but also a faithful protector of man in this worldly duration, an apotropeion. All ritual breads have their precise communicative role in each mentioned custom and have been preserved in practice in most annual and life cycle customs to this day, although their former meaning has been forgotten.
